Abstract:We report the first observation of well-ordered fluorine monolayers (MLs) on the Cu(111) surface. Fluorine atoms were adsorbed on the copper surface through the controlled decomposition of fluorinated fullerene (C 60 F 18 ) molecules, which were previously deposited on the substrate at submonolayer coverage. The desorption of fluorine atoms from the C 60 F 18 fullerene molecules and their adsorption on the Cu surfaces were evidenced by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy experiments. Analysis of the core-level sh… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
