“…Our previous study from Iran, carried out to identify molecular characteristics of MRSA isolated from blood samples, showed that ST239 was the most predominant type (43%). In line with the studies conducted by Abimanyu et al in India [22] and Udo et al in Kuwait [20], who demonstrated that HLMUPR-MRSA strains belonged to ST239 clone, our findings showed that 12 HLMUPR-MRSA strains (14.3%) and 5 HLMUPR-MRSA strains (5.9%) belonged to ST239. Among our ST239 isolates, 12 (14.3%), 3 (3.6%), and 2 isolates (2.4%) were positive for tst, eta and etb genes, respectively.…”

“…This agrees with a previous study showing SCC mec ‐III MRSAs with spa type t037 as the most predominant group circulating in a single hospital over 5‐month surveillance periods in Malaysia . Globally, there were other reports on the presence of MRSA with spa type t037 from clinical samples in India and USA . The second most common spa type among our MRSAs was spa type t8696, which is the least reported isolate globally.…”

“…In a study conducted in 2017 in Iran by Goudarzi et al (10), it was found that HLMUPR-MRSA strains belonged to ST15-SCCmec IV/t084 (40%), ST22-SCCmec IV/t790 (23.3%), ST239-SCCmec III/t631 (20%), and ST239-SCCmec III/t030 (16.7%) clones. In this study, it was shown that all the ST239-SCCmec III/t631 strains harbored the mupA gene, which is consistent with the studies of Abimanyu et al (34) and Boswihi et al (29) who reported high-level mupirocin resistance in the MRSA ST239 clone. Similar to the data from the previous studies, we found that none of the isolates contained class 3 integron (12).…”
