Elizabeth Gaskell: An overlooked political economist and proto theorist in the field of industrial relations

Abstract: This polemical essay argues that Victorian novelist Elizabeth Gaskell, and her novels North and South, and Mary Barton, portray her as an overlooked, early political economist.
