Elevation drives activity of soil bacteria, but not of bacterial viruses

Abstract: Soil microbial diversity affects ecosystem functioning and global biogeochemical cycles. Soil bacterial communities catalyze a diversity of biogeochemical reactions and have thus sparked considerable scientific interest.
