Abstract: Recebido em 21/11/02; aceito em 19/3/03 ELECTRODEPOSITION OF IRIDIUM IN GRAPHITE TUBE AS PERMANENT CHEMICAL MODIFIER IN ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY. A tubular electrochemical flow-cell for iridium deposition on the inner surface of pyrolytic graphite tube for permanent chemical modification is proposed. A transversal heated graphite tube was used as working electrode, a cylindrical piece of graphite inserted into the graphite tube as auxiliary electrode, and a micro Ag/AgCl (sat) as reference electrode. Iri… Show more

“…Total Hg determination by SS-GF AAS was performed using an Ir permanent chemical modifier associated with co-injection of 10 ml of a solution of the chemical modifier containing 0.5 mg l À1 Pd + 0.3 mg l À1 Mg. The iridium film was thermally deposited on the graphite tube wall using the heating program described by Naozuka et al 17 For this thermal modification, an aliquot of 25 ml of solution containing 1000 mg l À1 Ir was introduced into the graphite tube and submitted to the heating cycle. This was performed four times, resulting in a surface with 100 mg of Ir.…”
