Abstract:Electrosurgery is a general term used to encompass all methods in which electricity is used during the performance of surgery. Clinical applications of the appropriate output can result in selective incision, excision, ablation, or coagulation of tissue. This chapter provides a detailed explanation of the basic principles of electrosurgery, such as procedure techniques, adverse effects, and its complications, which include burns, risk of explosion, interference with pacemakers, and production of surgical smoke.
