“…The microstructure of the SP-BC was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM, SU-8010, Hitachi Ltd., Japan) as shown in Figure a. The SP-BC exhibited an aggregate morphology resembling grape bunches, and the average diameter of a single SP-BC particle was around 50 nm . Chemical composition analysis using an energy-dispersive spectrometer (EDS) indicated that SP-BC consisted mainly of carbon and oxygen, as shown in Figure b.…”

“…The fractional particle number and mass concentrations of the submicrometer or nanoscale SP-BC generated before and after the scrubber were measured using the electrical low-pressure impactor (ELPI + , Dekati Ltd., Finland). The ELPI + is a reliable real-time instrument for BC measurement and has been widely used for such a purpose. , A diluter (DI-2000, Dekati Ltd., Finland) was matched with ELPI + to dilute the flue gas at a ratio of 1:8, ensuring accurate and stable operation of the ELPI + instrument. The fractional SP-BC collection efficiency η i , the total SP-BC number, and mass removal efficiencies η number and η mass , were calculated by the following equations η i = 1 N outlet false( normali false) N inlet false( normali false) × 100 % η number = 1 N outlet ( i ) N inlet ( i ) × 100 % η mass = 1 M outlet ( i ) M inlet ( i ) × 100 % where N inlet and N outlet represent the inlet and outlet SP-BC number concentrations (1/cm 3 ) detected by ELPI + , respectively, and i refers to the ELPI + impactor stage with 14 size fractions.…”
