Electrospun Poly(3‐hexylthiophene) Nanofibers with Highly Extended and Oriented Chains Through Secondary Electric Field for High‐Performance Field‐Effect Transistors

Abstract: An extra electric field is introduced below the spinneret in an electrospinning setup for producing poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) nanofibers. The liquid jet is greatly prolonged by the additional extensional force and thinner fibers can thus be obtained. The chain conformation and orientation in fibers are probed by differential scanning calorimetry and X‐ray diffraction techniques. Under the influence of the secondary electric field, P3HT chains are extensively stretched and aligned along the fiber axis. The… Show more

“…Organic electronic devices have been regarded as powerful candidates for the applications of soft electronics due to their advantages of decent flexibility, facile solution processability, and easy on‐grid integration with respect to the inorganic counterparts . Among the plethora of applications of organic semiconductors, memory is of particular interest since it is the essential building block of computation technology nowadays for big database storage device.…”

“…Electrospinning process: A coaxial electrospinning technique was used to produce core-shell electrospun fibers, similar to that reported in the literature [15,16,17,18,19,20]. Figure 1 shows a schematic illustration of our experimental setup.…”

“…In this system, the enveloping of the core fluid by the sheath fluid takes place within the sheath nozzle itself. Other modifications to coaxial electrospinning, include using a triaxial nozzle for three-fluid spinning (Figure C) and adding a second electric field to extend the polymer chains along the fiber’s axis (Figure D).…”
