“…In accordance with that, and to the best of our knowledge, the present research creates the first database of both theoretical and detected m/z values for species with Al, O, H, S, K, and/or Na as part of their chemical composition (Excel file named “Database of cationic and anionic inorganic species with Al, O, H, S, K, and/or Na” in Data S3). This database (containing 281 cationic and 45 anionic inorganic species) was created by compiling the species and m/z data already reported in previous work (as well as in the present study) and using the methods described therein to propose new theoretical molecules and their respective m/z values. Additionally, an interactive inorganic species calculator was created to generate theoretical species and their respective m/z values that could be used to match future unassigned m/z values with plausible species candidates (Excel file named “Al‐Polymer Calculator” in Data S2).…”

“…The electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) was applied to identify aluminum speciation in aqueous solution (Sarpola et al, 2004;Urabe et al, 2008Urabe et al, , 2009Zhao et al, 2009). The aluminum tridecamer (Al 13 )-containing polyaluminum chloride (PACl) is widely utilized for coagulation of natural colloids in water treatment industries (Ji et al, 2009;Lin et al, 2009;Wang et al, 2004;Xu et al, 2003;Zhang et al, 2009).…”
