Electrospinning construction of Bi2WO6/RGO composite nanofibers with significantly enhanced photocatalytic water splitting activity

Abstract: Bi 2 WO 6 /Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) composite nanofibers were successfully fabricated by calcining the electrospun PVP/RGO/[(NH 4 ) 10 W 12 O 41 +Bi(NO 3 ) 3 ] composite nanofibers. The products were investigated in detail by X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Furthermore, photoluminescence 10 spectra (PL) and el… Show more

“…However, the intensity of Bi 2 WO 6 /2 g/L GO deposited PET fabric is lower than that of Bi 2 WO 6 deposited PET fabric, indicating that Bi 2 WO 6 /2 g/L GO deposited PET fabric exhibits a high separation rate of photoinduced electron-hole pairs. Thus, introduction of GO can inhibit recombination of photo-generated carriers of Bi 2 WO 6 and improve the photocatalytic properties, which is in good agreement with other reports [36].…”

“…The red shift suggests a certain electronic interaction between BFO nanoparticles and the RGO sheet. 45 The binding energy of O 1s in BFO nanoparticles emerges at 530.2 and 531.2 eV corresponding to the lattice oxygen of Fe–O and Bi–O bonds, respectively, shown in Figure S5 ( Supporting Information ). The O 1s spectra of RGO–BFO are deconvoluted into four signature peaks corresponding to Fe–O, Bi–O, C=O, and C–O, as shown in Figure 3 c. The Fe–O and Bi–O bonds are positioned at 529.9 and 530.8 eV, respectively.…”
