Electropolymerization of benzotriazole in room temperature ionic liquid [bmim]PF6

Abstract: The electropolymerization of benzotriazole on an Au electrode was investigated via cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry in a room temperature ionic liquid medium, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([bmim]PF 6 ) containing glacial acetic acid. The chronoamperometric investigation revealed that the instantaneous nucleation predominated the potentiostatic electropolymerization of benzotriazole at the oxidation peak potential. Scanning electron microscopy indicated that the polymer film was compa… Show more

“…The reaction equations from [EMIm]Cl are shown in Figure 2. For the molecular structure of alkyl-substituted imidazolium-based ILs, as shown in Figure 1, R 1 is typically methyl and R 2 can generally be butyl [24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31], ethyl [32][33][34][35], or octyl [36]. [38] reported a method that included putting a strongly hydrogen bonded organic material in contact with an ionic liquid having a fluoride anion for the solubilization of the strongly hydrogen bonded organic material.…”

“…They have been tested in a number of applications regarding polymers and have showed very interesting performance especially in terms of electrochemical stability [3][4]. Recently a number of papers have focused on the use of ILs as electrolytes (or electrolyte components in mixture with other chemicals) and as media for use within electropolymerization [5][6][7][8][9][10][11]. However, only few works reported in the literature have dealt with the polymerization of polypyrrole [12][13][14][15].…”

“…These demonstrated the development of p-1,5-PDAN layer at the PGE surface. 55 Characterization of p-1,5-DAN/PGE sensor.-Scanning electron microscopy (SEM).-The morphologies of the pencil graphite were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The nature of the electrode surface is significant because electrochemistry is essentially based on interfacial phenomena.…”
