“…These protruding -OH groups are partially fixed to the =CHOH groups of the amorphous part of the filter paper cellulose through hydrogen bonds, thus increasing adsorption of lead hydrolytic species on filter paper during an adsorption chromatographic experiment. During electrophoresis, at electric field strengths higher than 1 [volt cm-1], these hydrogen bonds are destroyed by the force exerted on the electrically charged metal hydrolytic species (2). Hence, the adsorption on cellulose during an electrophoretic experiment is diminished in comparison with the adsorption during an chromatographic experiment and the correction term u'/Rf of the apparent electrophoretic mobility u' due to adsorption on filter paper cellulose Rf (1) becomes larger and larger as the hydrolysis proceeds.…”
