Electrooxidation mechanism of glyoxylic acid on Au polycrystalline electrodes in acidic medium

Abstract: The electrooxidation mechanism of glyoxylic acid has been investigated on an Au polycrystalline electrode in acidic medium. The kinetic parameters deduced: Tafel slope, reaction order with respect to glyoxylic acid concentration, reaction order with respect to the pH, apparent activation enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs energy, and the final products detected after oxidation are in agreement with an electrooxidation mechanism beginning with an adsorption and a rate determining step in which the adsorbate becomes ox… Show more
