“…Sway is postural movement as measured on a force plate, on which the subject is standing. Bellizzi et al (2011) also concluded that extra-ocular proprioception was important in postural stability as the length of sway path in adults with squint was significantly greater than that found in control subjects, and critically did not vary greatly between eyes open and eyes closed conditions. This suggests that vision was not the most important factor in this instance, but extra-ocular proprioception may have been more influential.…”

“…These conclusions came from a study assessing the postural stability of young adults with horizontal comitant squint. Another study measuring postural stability in adults with ocular torticollis secondary to vertical incomitant squint (Bellizzi et al, 2011) also found reduced postural stability in quiet stance affecting length of sway path, velocity of sway and sway area. Sway is postural movement as measured on a force plate, on which the subject is standing.…”

“…The principle is to map the pressure of the plantar surface, which, indirectly, indicates important postural abnormalities (Bellizzi et al, 2011;Kaercher et al, 2011). Computerized baropodometry furnishes useful information on the positioning of the foot.…”

“…Some studies highlight the fact that posture and equilibrium problems can be associated with rheumatology and orthopedic diseases such as back pain, neck tension and ankle instability [3]. Postural deviation is a state of imbalance that leads to functional overload, degeneration and dysfunction [1] and can be studied using photography, magnetic resonance imaging and x-ray [4][5][6][7].…”

“…High plantar pressure generates posture abnormalities. Thus, an inadequate distribution on the plantar region occurs due to various factors such as eyesight deficiency, hearing deficiency, musculoskeletal system pathologies and mental states [1,2].…”
