“…4,5 The most critical factor in maintaining carrier mobility of TIPS-P is the formation of the crystalline phase, which has good p-p overlap of pentacene aromatic rings. 6,7 In published studies, simple methods for forming TIPS-P crystalline phases include common solution methods, e.g., rubbing, solution-casting, and drop-casting on an inclined substrate. [4][5][6][7] Some group have tried mixing TIPS-P with other components, like graphene flakes, to modify the crystallization and performance of TIPS-P films.…”

“…Unlike pentacene, functionalized pentacene is soluble in some organic solvents and can be spin-cast (a readily available technique for thin film preparation) for potential application studies. Intensive experimental studies have been performed in this area of research [3,4].…”

“…In this work, we present a mass spectrometric study of pentacene and four derivatives: symmetric 6,13-bis-[(triisopropylsilyl)-ethynyl]-pentacene (TIPS), 5,14-bis-[(triisopropylsilyl)-ethynyl]-pentacene (offset TIPS or o-TIPS), 6,13-bis-[(triisopropylsilyl)-ethynyl]-pentacene-2,3-dicarbonitrile or TIPS(CN) 2 , and 6,13-bis-[(triisopropylsilyl)-ethynyl]-pentacene-2,3,9,10-tetracarbonitrile or TIPS(CN) 4 (derivatives with additional cyanide groups attached to the pentacene) (see Figure 1). The first two selected funtionalized pentacene derivatives have demonstrated significant conductivity enhancement [2]; the carbonitrile derivatives are newly synthesized molecules and not yet examined as material for OTFTs.…”
