Electron-Electron Interaction Effects in Quantum Hall Regime of GaN/AlGaN Heterostructures

Abstract: We measured the activation of resistivity at quantum Hall minima in high mobility two-dimensional electron gas confined at AlGaN/GaN interface. The effective g-factor and effective mass was deduced. The electronelectron interactions modify both quantities compared to their bare band values. It is found that the influence of interactions is much more pronounced onto g-factor than effective mass. The relative spin susceptibility was also calculated and compared with available theories. The best agreement was fou… Show more

“…Nevertheless, the transport measurements of the (Al, Ga)N/GaN heterostructure suggested the renormalization of the electron effective mass. 49 We expect that these correlated effects in (Mg, Zn)O/ZnO would be observed in the (Al, Ga)N/GaN systems.…”

“…In a 2DEG with a parabolic band structure, the Wigner–Seitz radius represents the competition between the Coulomb interaction energy and kinetic energy, which is given by 11,12 where a B = 4π ε r ħ 2 / m ‖ e 2 is the effective Bohr radius of electrons. The Coulomb interaction can renormalize the relevant physical variables including the electron effective mass, 48 effective g -factor, 49 and even SOC. 11 This renormalization is strong in low electron-density systems with a large Wigner–Seitz radius.…”
