Electron‐beam curing of bismaleimide‐reactive diluent resins

Abstract: Electron-beam (E-beam) curing of 4,4Ј-bismaleimidodiphenylmethane (BMPM)/BMI-1,3-tolyl/o,oЈ-diallylbisphenol A (DABPA)-based bismaleimide (BMI) systems and their mixing with various reactive diluents, such as N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) and styrene, were investigated to elucidate how temperature, electron-beam dosage, and diluent concentration affect the cure extent. The effect of freeradical initiator on the cure reactions was also studied. It was found that low-intensity E-beam exposures cannot cause the polyme… Show more

“…Electron-beam curing was attempted for the BMPM/DABA system with various reactive diluents, such as N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) and styrene [73]. It was observed that BMPM/NVP can be initiated easily by low-intensity E-beam without thermal curing.…”

“…Reactive vinyl diluents such as NVP, styrene, acrylonitrile, acrylates and methylacrylates are widely used to assist in BMI curing reactions. 17,18 Li et al 19 studied E-beam curing of BMI having reactive diluents. The reactive diluents chosen for the investigation were styrene and NVP.…”

“…[13] Recently some researches were conducted on polyimide related to gamma ray irradiation. [12,14] In this paper, a series of homogeneous binary casting systems composed of bismaleimide oligomer DPBMI n and vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) as reactive solvent were developed.…”
