“…The infrastructure allows the coating of different metals, and a roll-to-roll masking mechanism can be used to pattern the electrode, if needed. Recent research effort for the optimization of the corrugation profile has lead to metallized membranes capable of sustaining a strain of 80% without inducing damages to the metallic layer, by using a mold profile with a 1:1 height over period ratio [60]. The authors have computed an experimental "compliance factor" describing the stiffness of the coated membrane in the compliant direction, and estimated that the new profile is about 4.5 times more compliant than the previous one, which should lead to a strain gain for the same applied electric field when use in a DEA configuration.…”
