Electromagnetic and microwave absorption properties of (Co2+–Si4+) substituted barium hexaferrites and its polymer composite

Abstract: The electromagnetic (EM) and microwave absorption properties of (Co2+–Si4+) substituted barium hexaferrite compositions BaCox2+Fey+2Six+y4+Fe12−2x−2y+3O19 (x=0.9 and y=0.0, 0.05, and 0.2) and its polymer composites prepared from hexaferrite, polyaniline, and carbon powders dispersed in polyurethane matrix have been investigated at the microwave frequency range of the X band (8.2–12.4GHz). The hexaferrite compositions were synthesized by solid-state reaction technique, whereas polyaniline, by chemical route. Th… Show more

“…35,36 In comparison with other materials, [37][38][39][40][41] both the real and imaginary parts of the LSM6 and LSM8 samples are high, indicating dielectric storage and loss of electromagnetic waves. The increase of both the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric permittivity contributes towards enhancement of the total shielding efficiency.…”

“…Che et al 14 reported the synthesis of CNT encapsulated with Fe nanoparticles showing good absorption behavior but the complex synthesis of CNT filled with magnetic nanoparticles is not favorable for practical applications. Abbas et al 15 reported that the microwave absorption properties of barium hexaferrite and its polymer composite show good attenuation value of 30 dB in the X-band but the synthesis process is mainly governed by mixing the ferrite with the polymer. Moreover, thick samples are required for higher attenuation.…”

“…13(c), demonstrating a constant conductivity at low frequency side. At high frequency range, there is an exponentially increasing conductivity behavior and it moves to the right side of this frequency window along with the conductivity plateau in the all temperature ranges, which was usually called as nearly constant loss regime (NCL) in the literatures (Abbas et al, 2007;Patange et al, 2009), also reflected in Fig. 13(c).…”
