“…However, according to Loewenstein’s principle of aluminum incompatibility, Al–O–Al bonds cannot be produced during the synthesis of GPs. Too low Si/Al ratios thus result in the production of unreacted [SiO 4 ] 4– and [AlO 4 ] 5– tetrahedra, a reduced degree of geopolymerization, and an increased potential for efflorescence. ,,, Furthermore, higher Al contents, over a certain optimum value, can also lead to increased imprisonment of cations and, subsequently, increased rate of efflorescence . Hence, accurate optimization of the Si/Al and Al/M ratios is key to developing GPs with the required mechanical properties and high chemical durability.…”

“…They found that Na 2 SO 4 content caused a relative prolongation of the induction period and resulted in volumetric expansion during the initial stages. Gu et al 23 researched FA-GBFS geopolymer and found that the synergistic effect between mineral polycondensation reactions and calcium silicate hydration reactions determines the mechanical and magnetic properties of this type of geopolymer. Although these studies exploring the microreaction mechanism of geopolymers have provided us with a large amount of theoretical data, the experiments are difficult to provide more detailed reaction information at the nanometre level due to the limitation of equipment conditions and the microreaction mechanism is still unclear.…”

“…Under the impact of alkali activation, part of the Si-O bonds with Al-O bonds in vitreous FA and GBFS break and condense into a three-dimensional mesh structure with a high degree of polymerization [24][25][26], which is an inorganic low-carbon non-metallic binding material. Not only is geopolymer more economical than ordinary Portland cement, but it also offers superior mechanical properties [27]. As a result, geopolymer is an effective way to improve PG s poor water stability and cure its heavy metals.…”
