Electromagnetic Analysis and Validation of an Ironless Inductive Position Sensor

Abstract: Abstract-The ironless inductive position sensor is a linear position sensing structure, which exhibits intrinsic immunity to external magnetic fields since it is characterized by air-cored windings. This new solution may be of major interest for applications where external magnetic fields can be a source of interference. In this paper, an analytical model of the working principle of the sensor is proposed. The effect of the moving coil flux on the overall sensed magnetic flux is described. The model is prelimi… Show more

“…When the No.1 coil is on the track, and No.2 and No.3 are not on the track, we judge that the vehicle is on the straight, when the microcontroller will let the vehicle go straight [12].When the vehicle goes straight, microcontroller drive the motor to ensure that the four-wheel speed would maintain the same. Position is shown in Fig.…”

“…As a result, the percentage change in sensing coil output due to the target would be much less, when compared with a nonmagnetic core. In addition, adding a core brings nonlinearity in sensor output [11], [20]. The features of the final IPS (modified v e3 ) are given in Table I.…”
