Electrohydraulic Lithotripsy for Difficult Bile Duct Stones under Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography and Peroral Transluminal Cholangioscopy Guidance

Abstract: Background/AimsElectrohydraulic lithotripsy (EHL) under endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) guidance can be an option to treat difficult stones. Recently, a digital, single-operator cholangioscope (SPY-DS) has become available. Peroral transluminal cholangioscopy (PTLC) using SPY-DS has also been reported. In this retrospective study, the technical feasibility and clinical effectiveness of EHL for difficult bile duct stones under ERCP guidance and under PTLC guidance was examined.MethodsIn th… Show more

“…Median diameter was 14.5 mm (range: 10–30 mm) and 18.7 mm (range: 4–60 mm), respectively. Fourteen studies reported stone location . Apart from the two studies discussing cystic duct stones, the predominant location of DBDS was the common bile duct (proportion ranged from 57.6% to 100%) in the other studies, where location data were available.…”
