“…Pd has been regarded as a promising candidate of Pt due to its high catalytic activity and much lower cost than Pt [13], although it is not widely used as Pt [14,15]. Pt-Pd alloy catalysts have exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity due to the modified electronic structure in comparison with pure Pt [15,16]. However, Pt-Pd alloy has not been used as the cathode catalyst for oxygen reduction in MFCs.…”

“…In their work, H 2 PdCl 4 and ethylene were, respectively, employed as the precursor of Pd and reducing reagent. Aggarwal's group [5] have reported the synthesis of palladium nanoparticles on a platinum (Pt) electrode which was accomplished by using an electrodeposition method of a potentiostatic pulse, where the plating solution was 0.1 M H 2 SO 4 containing 1 mM K 2 PdCl 4 . Although a large number of methods have been developed to prepare Pd nanoparticle catalysts, the works concerning the preparation of Pd-based composite nanoparticle catalysts by a very simple process of dry-grinding have not been reported yet.…”

“…Platinum (Pt) is widely used as anode modification material because of its high oxidation rate of hydrogen and small organic molecules. However, large‐scale application has been restricted due to its high price . To decrease the modification cost, Xie et al., fabricated carbon nanotubes (CNTs)‐sponge anode, showing good prospects for the application of MFC .…”
