Electrochemistry of Inorganic OCT-PbS/HDA and OCT-PbS Photosensitizers Thermalized from Bis(N-diisopropyl-N-octyldithiocarbamato) Pb(II) Molecular Precursors

Abstract: Inorganic nanocrystal solar cells have been tagged as the next generation of synthesizers that have the potential to break new ground in photovoltaic cells. This synthetic route offers a safe, easy and cost-effective method of achieving the desired material. The present work investigates the synthesis of inorganic PbS sensitizers through a molecular precursor route and their impact on improving the conversion efficiency in photovoltaic cells. PbS photosensitizers were deposited on TiO 2 by direct deposition, a… Show more

“…1 H NMR (400.1 MHz, DMSO-d 6 , ppm): δ 9.6 (s, 2H−NH),0.9 (t, 3H−CH 3 ), 1.3 (s, 1H−SH). 13 Pb(II)−S was synthesized according to the literature method, 64 and 0.4502 g (2.5 mmol) of morpholine dtc and 0.5025 g (2.5 mmol) of 1.4-phenylenediamine dtc were dissolved in about 15 mL of distilled water separately with the help of continuous stirring. PbCl 2 (0.6953 g, 2.5 mmol) was also dissolved in 15 mL of distilled water separately at a ratio of 1:1:1, under constant stirring.…”

“…The synthesis procedure for ligands and complexes conducted in this work was adopted and modified from the literature and the experiments conducted by Mbese et al, Agoro et al, Meyer et al [ 24 , 25 , 26 ], as well as Halimehjane [ 27 ]. As an example, to explain the synthesis process, the procedure utilized to synthesize MoS 2 was explained.…”

“…A single-source method produces high-purity and cost-effective materials by incorporating the required elements into one compound [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]. This approach involves a simple decomposition of the molecular precursor, usually dithiocarbamate metal complexes, in an inert environment to the desired temperature [ 19 , 20 , 21 ]. Such approaches have been employed for the formation of metal oxides and metal chalcogenides with various morphologies for different nanomaterials, such as nanofabrics, nanodiscs, nanorods, nanospheres and nanowires [ 22 , 23 ].…”
