Electrochemical Study of Interfacially Synthesized Polycarbazole with Different Oxidants

Abstract: This work focused on the morphology‐controlled electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) studies of polycarbazole (PCz) in two different electrolytes. PCz is synthesized through controlled interfacial polymerization by using two different oxidizing agents, (NH4)2S2O8 (APS) and KMnO4. Voltammetric and EIS studies were carried out to explore charge‐transfer properties in the vicinity of modified PCz/glassy carbon (GC) and PCz/Pt electrodes with different electrolytes that have different‐sized anions. It has … Show more

“…Since them, many research have been focus on the development of 3,6 disubstitued carbazoles, taking advantage of the high reactivity of 3,6 positions [ 148 ]. In this context, linear and hyperbranched 3,6-carbazole derivatives present excellent redox activity, photorefractive and nonlinear optical properties [ 106 , 149 ]. These properties make them good candidates as materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).…”

“…Electrochemical impedence spectroscopy (EIS) is a transfer function method in which an input sinusoidal AC wave is used to perturbed the system and the response is measured as output particularly at the electrode-electrolyte interface, caused by electrochemical electron/ion transfer 34 , 35 . Generally the EIS response for a system under investigation is represented in the form of Nyquist plot.…”

“…The presence of the stretching band at 1227 cm −1 is attributed to C=N and the peak at 1316 cm −1 is attributed to C-H out of plane bending vibration of aromatic ring. The sharp band at 1444 cm −1 may be due to ring stretching vibration of carbazole [27]. The bands at 918 cm −1 and 1598 cm −1 are assigned to =CH out of plane and stretching mode of aromatic alkene respectively [21,25].…”
