Electrochemical sensing using magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer particles previously captured by a magneto-sensor

Abstract: The determination of 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB) was used as a proof-of-concept to a simple analytical practical configuration applying magnetic molecularly imprinted particles (mag-MIPs). Mag-MIPs were captured from an emulsion by a home-made magneto-sensor (where a small magnet was entrapped by a graphite-epoxy composite) and then, this sensor, was transferred to the solution containing the analyte, where, after binding to the mag-MIPs, the analyte was directly analysed using differential pulse voltam… Show more

“…The analytical performance was validated to determine histamine in scombrid fish samples with recovery values ranging from 97 to 102% with a LOD of 2 × 10 −6 mg L −1 which is below the fish spoilage index (50 mg kg −1 ) according to legislation. The same research group proposed the same strategy to detect Methyl parathion in tuna and catfish [ 129 ], 1-chloro-2,4-dini-trobenzene (CDNB) as a toxic xenobiotic compound known to cause oxidative stress cell death and allergic reactions were also preconcentrated using magneto-actuated electrodes from the river, and tap water by Ruiz-Córdova et al [ 136 ].…”

“…Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were imagined as a lab-made alternative to biological receptors, imitating antibodies [9], MIPs have tailor-made selective recognition sites for selected molecules [10][11][12]. These biomimetic polymers are obtained by polymerization, a process in which the building monomers are polymerized around a target template (generally, the aimed analyte).…”
