Electrochemical Performance of Pt-Based Catalysts Supported on Different Ordered Mesoporous Carbons (Pt/OMCs) for Oxygen Reduction Reaction

Abstract: The present work aims to compare and evaluate the behavior of platinum catalysts supported on different ordered mesoporous carbons (Pt/OMCs). OMCs were templated from two kinds of ordered mesoporous silicas (2-D SBA-15 and 3-D SBA-16), with sucrose as carbon precursor and boric acid as a pore expanding agent. Structural characterizations revealed that all OMCs inherited the structure from silica templates. OMC synthesized from a mixture of sucrose and boric acid exhibited a larger pore size. According to XRD, … Show more

“…These properties are fundamental requires in the application of carbon materials as supports in the preparation of catalytic systems, especially within the field of fuel cell technologies [5,6]. In fact, depending on the application, pore size distribution can play a definitive role in catalytic activity and stability.…”

“…To overcome the above problems, new generation electrodes, namely ordered CLs have been proposed [107], developed, widely studied in the laboratory [108][109][110][111][112][113][114][115][116][117][118][119][120][121][122][123], and even commercialized [124,125]. In this section, the recent progress in the fabrication of CLs, the efforts to resolve and optimize the microstructure, and new trends in CL designs are reviewed.…”
