Electrochemical Investigation of Corrosion of X80 Steel under Elastic and Plastic Tensile Stress in CO2 Environment

Abstract: An investigation into the electrochemical corrosion behavior of X80 pipeline steel under different elastic and plastic tensile stress in a CO2-saturated NaCl solution has been carried out by using open-circuit potential, potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and surface analysis techniques. The results show that the corrosion rate of X80 steel first increases and then slightly decreases with the increase of elastic tensile stress, whereas the corrosion rate sharply increases wit… Show more

“…Therefore, the E eq is expected to be reduced under the effect of tensile stress. 35 Stress interacts with diffusion in a two-way coupling in which diffusion induces stress (DIS), which in turn affects diffusion (stressenhanced diffusion). 17,21,[31][32][33]36 In this study, the fitted effective intercalation diffusion coefficient D s,eff described by the Fick's second law in Equation 6 includes the impact of gradients of stress as a driving force for diffusion inside the particle:…”

“…Steel ribbed bars provide reinforced concrete structures with higher flexural strength. The study of these materials is crucial to determine the behaviour of structures during the building process (2). Magnetism of materials is caused by magnetic moments associated to the motion of individual electrons, so that in every individual atom, orbital moments of some electronics pairs are fully cancelled, as are in spin moments.…”
