Aluminium composites have various applications in engineering thanks to their greater strength with lightweight, formability and ductility. However, the properties of the Aluminium composites such as wear, corrosion, hardness, and fatigue resistance are critical at near-surface regions. In this present research work, the effect on the surface of Aluminium 4.5Cu with Bamboo Leaf Ash composite by laser surface melting was done, wherein the fabrication was done by stir-casting with bamboo leaf ash reinforced particles with 2 and 4 weight percentage. By using the laser machine, the composite's surface was melted. Microstructure and corrosion behaviour of composites before surface melting and after laser surface melting was inspected and the outcomes were compared. It was perceived that, the diminishment of porosity in the grain refinement. The corrosion resistance of composites had improved remarkably by Laser Surface Melting. The Corrosion mechanism was analysed by observing the morphology of the corroded surface of composites. Henceforth the Laser Surface Melting will be applied appropriately to boost the surface properties of aluminium composites.

The corrosion of iron in acidic environments has a negative impact on global industry. Herewith, the inhibitory effect of cysteine (Cys.) on mild steel (MSL) corrosion in different acidic solutions (1 M HCl, 1 M H 2 SO 4 , and 1 M H 3 PO 4 ) was investigated through weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and theoretical calculations. The measurement results indicated that the adsorption of Cys. molecules on the metal surface caused corrosion inhibition. As a result, a protective layer or insoluble compound, or both, is obtained, blocking the active sites, preventing corrosion. The effectiveness (IE %) of the Cys. was enhanced by increasing concentration and lowering temperature. The maximum IE % of inhibition at 1 × 10 −2 M of Cys. obtained are 97.3, 89.7, and 84.4% in HCl, H 3 PO 4 , and H 2 SO 4 solutions, respectively. At the same inhibitor concentration, the double-layer capacity decreased, and the charge-transfer resistance increased from 17.17 to 188.5, 3.564 to 31.91, and 1.325 to 8.715 Ω cm 2 in HCl, H 3 PO 4 , and H 2 SO 4 solutions, respectively. Adsorption and PDP studies confirmed that it obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and acts as a mixed-type inhibitor of physicochemical nature. The corresponding thermodynamic and kinetic parameters were also calculated and discussed. Moreover, the inhibitory effect on the surface was inspected by SEM. The findings demonstrated that the order of IE % using Cys as anticorrosion agent for MSL is HCl > H 3 PO 4 > H 2 SO 4 solutions.

Bio-energies are renewable, sustainable and environmentally-friendly. Although Nigeria has a lot of various biomass materials, production of bio-fuels in Nigeria is faced with a lot of challenges. It has been argued that large scale production of bio-energies from food crops as replacement or supplements to fossil fuels cannot be realistically achieved because of possible negative effects on food security. There is high potential for largescale production of biodiesel from microalgae in Nigeria. Establishment of biodiesel production industries in Nigeria will have positive effects on socioeconomic development of the country. It has been estimated that Nigeria currently needs about 27 thousand barrels of biodiesel per day to be able to replace the entire consumed fossil diesel with B20 blends. There is therefore an urgent need to isolate and develop productive strains that are adapted to non-arable lands in Nigeria, develop appropriate photo bioreactors and culture systems for large scale production of microalgae biodiesel, and develop bioenergy friendly policies and incentives to encourage bio-energy production in Nigeria.
