Electrochemical Deposition of Spinel-Type Cobalt Oxide from Alkaline Solution of Co[sup 2+] with Glycine

Abstract: The electrochemical formation of spinel-type cobalt oxide has been presented in which the potentiostatic or potentiodynamic oxidation is performed with a Au or Pt electrode in a solution of high pH containing CoSO4 and glycine. The electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance studies indicate that the electrodeposition of cobalt oxide proceeds through the electrochemical oxidation of a cobalt-glycine complex at high pH. The scanning electron microscopy morphology of the deposited film is very compact and quit… Show more

“…Obviously, the current response of the graphene-based electrodes is much higher. The anodic and cathodic peaks found in the cyclic voltammograms of the cobalt-containing electrodes are in good agreement with earlier reports (Ding et al, 2010;Nakaoka, Nakayama, & Ogura, 2002). The anodic peaks at 0.25 and 0.60 V can be attributed to the Co(II) ?…”

The three concentric diffraction rings can be indexed to the (311), (400) Normally, crystalline spinel M 3 O 4 coatings (M = Co, Ni or Fe) can be prepared by electrodeposition through three different ways: (1) Anodic electrodeposition; 35,36 (2) cathodic electrodeposition of metal followed by electrochemical oxidation (anodization) in an alkaline solution;…”

“…The Cu 2 O thin films have been synthesized using different methods such as, reactive sputtering [12,13], molecular beam epitaxy [14], chemical and thermal oxidization [15,16], and electroplating [17,18]. The CuO films have been typically prepared by chemical and thermal oxidation of copper [2,19].…”
