Electrochemical behaviour of X80 pipeline steel with alumina coating

Abstract: X80 pipeline steel was firstly aluminised at a relative low temperature then treated by a microarc oxidation process. Electrochemical behaviour of X80 pipeline steel before and after the combined treatment was evaluated by electrochemical tests in different solution. Results show that ceramics coating composed of a-Al 2 O 3 and c-Al 2 O 3 can be obtained on the surface of X80 pipeline steel by the combined treatment. In neutral 3?5% NaCl solution and alkaline solution (pH59), X80 pipeline steel with ceramics c… Show more

“…Many materials were used to coat metallic pipelines and fabricate non-dielectric pipes, one of which was an alumina (ε r = 9.4) torus. Ceramic materials have been widely used in pipeline manufacturing, such as the coating for metallic pipelines [42][43][44], ceramic pipes for irrigation [45], heat transmission [46,47], sewer pipes application [48,49], and ceramic-lined pipes [50,51], which have advantages with respect to corrosive resistance, high strength, heat resistance, and thermal stability. Dimensions of ceramic pipes are various.…”

“…There are two reasons to choose this high-pulsed power CVD technique to coat DLC films on the surface of the 13Cr SMSS: first, the structure of 13Cr SMSS is martensite and cannot bear the high temperatures of conventional CVD technique; and second, the main applications of the 13Cr SMSS are as tubes for crude oil excavation and transport, which require excellent tribological properties of DLC films on the inner surface of the tubes [18]. Finally, there is rarely to find the study on the mechanical and tribological enhancement of the specific 13Cr SMSS by coating technique, which needs researchers to explore the mechanism of the coating effect and the deposition parameters coped to this specific substrate.…”

“…However, steel tends to be corroded in the atmospheric condition causing the consuming of material resources with the gradual deterioration of ecological environment. [1][2][3] Over the course of the past 30 years, intense research efforts have been devoted into the improvement of the corrosion resistance of various forms of carbon steel. All kinds of strategies in particular coating technologies have been proposed to extend the life time of steel constructions and medical implants.…”
