Electro-synthesized composite of polyaniline and gum Arabic for colorimetric ammonia vapor detection

Abstract: Polyaniline (PAni) is a conductive polymer with colorimetric properties, which can be combined with biopolymers to form novel composite materials. These materials can be used as a colorimetric sensor/indicator in the identification of different kinds of analytes. The present study aimed to develop a film of PAni and gum Arabic (GA) by electrochemical method to evaluate its potential use in a colorimetric sensor for ammonia vapor (NH3). The composite PAni/GA was prepared by electrochemical polymerization on a g… Show more

“…1,9,10 Given the current trend to apply green chemistry, a conductive polymer and a natural polymer combination seem to be very attractive for sensor electrochemical synthesis. 11,12 The combined polysaccharides and polianilina may have the mechanical and biodegradable properties of the natural polymer and the electrical properties of the conductive polymer. [13][14][15][16] Latest studies on polyaniline-chitosan modified on screen-printed carbon electrode for electrochemical detection achieved highly sensitive and selective of perfluorooctanoic acid with detection limit in ppb range.…”
