Electrical Properties of Polyethylene/Polypropylene Compounds for High-Voltage Insulation

Abstract: Abstract:In high-voltage insulation systems, the most commonly used material is polymeric material because of its high dielectric strength, high resistivity, and low dielectric loss in addition to good chemical and mechanical properties. In this work, various polymer compounds were prepared, consisting of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), HDPE/PP, and LDPE/PP polymer blends. The relative permittivity and breakdown strength of each sample types were evaluated… Show more

“…Commonly available commercial electret filter media is made by corona-charging. Rather recently, electrospun webs have been regarded as potential electret filter material, while its scalability is yet challenging [8][9][10][11][12]. In most cases, both hetero-and homo-charges exist simultaneously, and the dominant type of charges determine the character of the electret [3].…”

“…It is for this measurement that the temperature dependence can be described by two exponential dependences with different activation energies. 6. It has been found that starting from the fourth measurement, the temperature dependence of conductance on the direct and alternating currents can be described by one exponential dependence with the activation energy 1.00±0.05 eV.…”

“…We consider that the difference between the T 0 value for σ DC (380 K) and σ AC (373 K) is most significant to measure in a solid phase. From our viewpoint, it may be (4), 377 (5), 392 (6), and 408 K (7). Table 2.…”

“…One of the most important elements in a cable is the insulation layer [1][2][3]. For this reason, cable manufacturers are continuously testing dielectric materials that can provide the best performances [4,5]. Typically, from the electrical point of view, capacitance, resistivity, dielectric strength, and permittivity are the main parameters to be taken into account [6].…”
