In this study, pure samples of epoxy doped with Polyaniline (PANI) were prepared and studied. The casting method was employed to prepare the samples with different doped ratios of PANI (1, 2, 3 %wt) and the morphological, structural and electrical properties of the prepared samples were examined. The field-emission scanning electron microscope FE-SEM images revealed that the doping of PANI improves the morphology of the samples by reducing the cracks in the surface of the samples, while the X-ray diffraction spectra showed that the samples are all polycrystalline and that the crystal structure enhances by increasing the percentage of PANI in samples. The functional groups and bonds were confirmed through infrared spectra examinations FT-IR in the range of 400-4000 cm-1. The electrical tests represented by the D.C conductivity demonstrated an increase in conductivity with an increase in PANI doping, where its value was 1.34E-9 for pure epoxy sample and increases up to 3.44E-9 for samples doped with 3%wt PANI.

This study focuses on developing and characterizing multifunctional composites based on the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA) epoxy matrix. The aim is to enhance fire resistance and electrical conductivity properties for applications in various fields. To achieve this, aluminum tri-hydroxide (ATH) was incorporated as a flame retardant (FR) agent, while polyaniline (PANI) was added to impart electrical conductivity. The composites were categorized into three groups: the first containing flame retardant (FR), the second containing PANI for conductivity, and the third containing both PANI and FR for combined effects. E 60-FP emerged as the optimal multifunctional composite, exhibiting superior mechanical properties among the tested formulations. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) results provided valuable insights into the thermal stability of E 60-FP, revealing that it retained 42% of its initial mass at a temperature of 600°C. Additionally, the composite achieved a V-0 rating in the UL 94 test, confirming its excellent fire resistance. Notably, E 60-FP displayed impressive mechanical strength, with a tensile strength of 7.2 MPa and a tensile modulus of 1117.6 MPa. Its flexural strength and modulus were measured at 31.2 MPa and 2800.2 MPa, respectively. Furthermore, the composite E 60-FP exhibited remarkable electrical conductivity, measuring 6.1× 10-6 S/cm. These findings highlight the potential of DGEBA epoxy composites containing PANI and ATH as promising materials for applications requiring fire resistance and electrical conductivity properties.

This study reports on the electrical conductivity, dielectric, and electromagnetic interferenc (EMI) shielding properties of conductive epoxy/PAni blend containing various concentrations. Polyaniline (PAni) was synthesized using oxidative chemical polymerization technique and then dispersed into epoxy resin using a sonication bath. Infrared spectra confirm the curing of composites. Increasing the aspect ratio of PAni in epoxy increased the electrical conductivity and improves the microwave absorption properties of composites in the microwave range (0.1 GHz–20 GHz). Electrical conductivity was measured by using the four-probe method, and the maximum conductivity of the composite was achieved 3.51 × 10−13 Scm−1 with 30 wt% of PAni. The maximum porosity of the composite with 30 wt% of PAni was 15.5%. EMI shielding was measured by a vector network analyzer (VNA) in the microwave region (0.1 GHz–20 GHz), which gives the maximum value of 63 dB. IR shielding was measured by IR spectroscopy and less than 0.5% transmission was observed in NIR (700 nm–2500 nm) region. The average particle size of PAni is found to be 113 nm. These composites were used as a potential candidate for conductive coatings, EMI shielding purposes, and electronic applications.
