Electrical impedance tomography in 3D flood embankments testing – elastic net approach

Abstract: The article presents non-destructive testing based on electrical impedance tomography (EIT) for spatial (3D) monitoring of flood embankments. Therefore, to solve the inverse problem of the EIT, an effective algorithm based on multiple elastic nets has been developed. The originality of the solution is based on the application of many elastic net algorithms as functions, each of which, based on the vector of all measurements, generates the value of a single pixel for the reconstructed image. In this way, the se… Show more

“…The traditional approach to modelling an ultrasonic tomograph is to approximate the system behaviour with a model of simple propagation rays between two ultrasonic probes. Publications verify the effectiveness of this solution reliably being able to image the positions of inclusions and the domain of the tomographic system [27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35]. Moreover, the effectiveness of such models can be verified by a practical study from measurement data.…”

“…The novelty presented in this article is the prototype EIT-UST hybrid tomograph dedicated to monitoring industrial tank reactors and pipes. In addition to the concept of connection and the use of tomographic data containing quite different physical quantities (electrical and time), a modified concept of multiple neural networks described in our previous publications was also used [16,45]. The authors' own contribution included the design and development of a tomograph prototype in both the hardware and algorithmic layers.…”
