Electrical conductivity studies on PVA/PVP-KOH alkaline solid polymer blend electrolyte

Abstract: Abstract.A series of conducting thin-film solid electrolytes based on poly (vinyl alcohol)/poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVA/PVP) polymer blend was prepared by the solution casting technique. PVA and PVP were mixed in various weight percent ratios and dissolved in 20 ml of distilled water. The samples were analyzed by using impedance spectroscopy in the frequency range between 100 Hz and 1 MHz. The PVA/PVP system with a composition of 80% PVA and 20 wt.% PVP exhibits the highest conductivity of (2.2 + 1.4) x 10 .7… Show more

“…From Fig. 7, it is clear that, the conductivity of pure PVA/PVP blend was 1.00617 Â 10 À10 S cm À1 (at room temperature) and its value increased about 200 times on the filled films and these results data in the same range of Hatta et al results [25]. The rise of the conductivity is significant with increased concentration of LiBr.…”

“…Mainly electrical conduction in polymers has been studied aiming to understand the nature of the charge transport prevalent in these materials. Most of the studies in this field are devoted to poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO)‐based polymer electrolytes using alkali metal salts .…”

“…Hatta et al [21] observed that solvent casting PVA/PVP thin-film solid electrolytes with a composition of 80% of PVA and 20% of PVP (v/v) exhibited the highest conductivity (2.2·10 -7 S·cm -1 ). The conductivity of this system enhanced to 1.5·10 -4 S·cm -1 when KOH (40%) was added.…”
