Electrical Conductivity Studies of Polyaniline Nanotubes Doped with Different Sulfonic Acids

Abstract: Self-assembled polyaniline (PANI) nanotubes were prepared in the presence of three different sulfonic acids as dopant, namely, p-toluenesulfonic acid, camphorsulfonic acid, and tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin, by oxidative polymerization using ammonium peroxydisulfate as the oxidant. The morphology of the PANI nanotubes was determined by SEM and TEM and the electrical conductivity was measured as a function of temperature. The PANI nanotubes were also characterized by FTIR, XRD, UV-Vis, and cyclic voltamm… Show more

“…Once a good image was achieved, the scan was set to 10 µm × 10 µm at 0.1 Hz and 512 lines. 45 To study the effect of PANI protonation level on the surface topography, AFM was utilized to determine the rms surface roughness. Roughness analysis and surface area were performed for each scan.…”

“…The most popular method for particle-size determination is the use of dynamic light scattering [51]. The morphology of conducting polymer film is usually determined with the use of microscopic methods, mainly AFM, SEM and TEM [52][53][54]. Having the fundamental properties and parameters of particular materials used for developed composite, the parametrization of a percolation problem is possible.…”

“…The morphology and other properties of nanostructured SPAn are dependent, apart from the nature of dopant [13,14], on the amount of dopant and An concentration, since it is difficult to produce polymers only from sulfonic acid derivatives of An because of the low reactivity of the monomer due to the presence of electron-attracting sulfonic groups [15,16].…”
