Electrical characterization of gas sensing devices based on porous TiO2

Abstract: Electrical properties of two kinds of sandwich structures (SnO 2 : F/por-TiO 2 /Ti and Si/por-TiO 2 /Pd) are investigated by the methods of I-V, C-V characteristics and DLTS in vapors of water and alcohol. It has been demonstrated that besides the change of the conductivity and of the capacitance of the por-TiO 2 layers one can also use for gas sensing the change of the high frequency capacitance of the MOS type structure, measurement of the current response at relatively low frequencies and the modification o… Show more

“…Silicon nanoinclusions surrounded with a silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ) layer lar, the generalized theory was developed for chemical sensors on the basis of surface-barrier structures with an intermediate layer of thin porous semiconductors and nano-catalysts [20,21]. The influence of nanoparticles of noble metals on the electric properties of nano-porous silicon was studied [22,23]. New types of effective chemical sensors were developed for detecting hydrogen, moisture, hydrogen-carbon compounds, heavy metals, and organic media, in which the luminescent or electric transducers on the basis of surface-barrier structures from porous silicon, titanium oxide, graphene, and other nanosubstances were applied [24][25][26][27].…”

“…Останнiм часом значну увагу придiляють дослiдженню нанокристалiчних оксидних матерiалiв, якi характеризуються унiкальними властивостями та широкими можливостями застосування. До таких сполук вiдноситься i оксид титану ТiО 2 -хiмiчно стабiльний та недорогий матерiал, що широко застосовується для створення газових сенсорiв [1][2][3], плiвкових покриттiв [4], iнжекцiйних сонячних елементiв [5][6]. Дiоксид титану має унiкальнi фотокаталiтичнi властивостi [7][8], є перспективним матерiалом для фотонних кристалiв [9].…”

“…Електронний транспорт у поруватих оксидних напiвпровiдниках дуже чутливий до адсорбованих молекул, якi суттєво змiнюють зарядовий стан внутрiшньої поверхнi. Зокрема, адсорбцiя полярних молекул (води, етилового спирту) дає можливiсть керованого формування поверхневих центрiв захоплення носiїв заряду [1], що визначають iнжекцiйнi особливостi наноструктурованого матерiалу.…”
