Electrical characteristics of different concentration of silica nanoparticles embedded in epoxy resin

Ammar Al Soud,
Samer I. Daradkeh,
Alexandr Knápek
et al.

Abstract: To improve the electrical and mechanical properties of epoxy resin for their wide scope of applications, a modified epoxy nanocomposite was produced in this study by incorporating SiO2 nanoparticles of 15-30 nm in size. The electric properties of epoxy nanocomposite at room temperature at a frequency range of 10-2 – 107 Hz were examined. To determine the impact of nanoparticles on the epoxy composition, the epoxy composite was evaluated by scanning electron microscopy- energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, four… Show more

“…The peak at 1382 cm −1 can be assigned to the stretching of CO and bending of OH groups, indicative of the presence of oxygen-containing functional groups. However, the band at 1017 cm −1 is associated with COC in epoxy groups [8,17,22]. The faint bands at 1670 cm −1 indicate the presence of amine N-H functional groups.…”

“…Additionally, the bands at 2957 and 2875 cm −1 assigned to the -CH 2 and -CH 3 stretching vibration modes of aromatic and aliphatic chains, respectively. Furthermore, the band observed at 3065 cm −1 is assigned to the C-H stretching mode of the epoxide group [8,17]. The peak at 1382 cm −1 can be assigned to the stretching of CO and bending of OH groups, indicative of the presence of oxygen-containing functional groups.…”
