Electrical and Mechanical Characteristics of (Bi4 −xLax)Ti3O12Ceramics

Abstract: Effect of concentration of La doping on phase, microstructure and properties of 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) ceramics was investigated. X-ray diffraction patterns of the ceramics indicated orthorhombic structure with lattice distortion, especially with higher content of La dopant. All samples showed plate-like morphology with different grain size and orientation. Preferred orientation in undoped and lightly doped BLT ceramics was dominant compared to the samples with high La contents. The reduced preferred orientat… Show more

“…X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used for phase identification and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed for microstructural study of the ceramics. In practice, not only electrical properties but also structural stability such as hardness property must also be considered [18]. Therefore, in this work, the investigation of basic mechanical characteristics such as hardness of these ceramics using a simple and non-destructive indentation technique was carried out.…”

“…BTO ceramics have been used in capacitors, transducers, sensors, etc. [1,2]. The tuning of electric properties by compositional modification as well as the size effect can meet commercial specifications for Curie temperature, conductivity, coercivity, compliance, etc.…”
