Electric oil pump design of hybrid continuously variable transmission

Abstract: An electric oil pump (EOP) must be used to supply oil for actuators in the hybrid continuously variable transmission (CVT) on the launch state of vehicle. To develop this EOP, the current CVT-based hybrid schemes and the use of EOP on traditional automatic transmissions are analysed. Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) type is chosen as the power source of the developed EOP for its advantages of high efficiency and long-life cycle. The PMSM EOP motor is designed and simulated by ANSYS EM. Based on the pa… Show more

“…The power transmission of the oil pump and motor is illustrated in Figure 2. By calculating the power loss of the three modes, the single-motor dual-pump integrated mode is determined [14]. The hydraulic system of mass-produced cars in the world includes numerous modes such as Prius, Malibu, Lexus, and Trumpchi.…”

“…However, the conventional DC motors are less used due to their brushed system. In [6,7], a permanent magnet motor (PMSM) for such a transmission oil pump was presented. In [8], the authors designed and designed and compared, in terms of the performance and cost, two PMSMs with different topologies used for oil pumps.…”
