Electric-discharge SF6–H2laser pumped by an inductive storage unit

Abstract: We studied the Penning ionization of the CHF 2 Cl molecule with He and Ne metastable atoms (He * and Ne * ). We measured the electron kinetic energy and the time-of-flight mass spectra; we also determined the branching ratio for the parent ion and charged CHF + 2 , CHFCl + , HCF + /CF + and Cl + fragments. These data led us to discuss the dissociation channels for all the energeticallyaccessible electronic states of the ionized molecule. We evidenced a marked contrast in the fragment ion proportions for Ne * -… Show more

“…The current amplitude also diminishes, whereas the voltage is appreciably higher at its maximum than in the case of an 'uncon¯ned' discharge. Voltage oscillograms of a similar type are obtained when the discharge characteristics are calculated taking into account the attachment of electrons to vibrationally excited SF 6 molecules [40]. However, the calculated oscillograms in Ref.…”

“…At W,>'O.O5J/cm3, surface density of cathode spots has a maximum in the central zone ofthe cathode as in an ordinary gap with plane electrodes not bounded by a dielectric surface. However no interpretation was given by the authors in [10]. Because the whole discharge chamber was occupied by the discharge, the above evidence suggests that an effective ionization coefficient in the gas mixture formed due to the dissociation of the starting components is lower than in an initial mixture.…”
