“…The electric polarizability of the deuteron, α E0 , has been investigated thoroughly with N N potential models 54,55,56,57 . To a very high precision one obtains α E0 = 0.6328 ± 0.0017 fm 3 with those techniques.…”

“…These are the nuclei where a reasonable amount of experimental data on Compton scattering are available. In comparison to these the investigations of the deuteron -though being the most fundamental ones -are at the very beginning and we give here only few references to recent experimental and theoretical works [131][132][133][134][135][136].…”

“…It should be noted that coherent elastic (Compton) scattering by the deuteron provides a further method for determining the electromagnetic polarizabilities of the neutron. An evaluation of first experiments [11,12] using the theoretical model of [13,14] gave the values of α n + β n = 20 ± 3 and α n − β n = −2 ± 3. Progress in the application of this method may be expected from an experiment carried out at MAX-Lab [15] and from further improvements of the theoretical basis for the data analysis.…”
