Elastic scattering and total reaction cross section for theBe7+Al27system at near-barrier energies

Abstract: Elastic scattering angular distributions of the radioactive weakly bound 7 Be on 27 Al have been measured at energies near the Coulomb barrier. The interaction optical potential is investigated by using different potentials. Total reaction cross sections have also been obtained.

“…As a consequence, different choices of the reduction procedure may lead to conflicting conclusions about the trends of the reduced data for weakly bound or tightly bound systems. This has recently been pointed out in a paper by Morcelle et al [173]. When one is dealing with fusion reactions, the fusion cross section reduced by the fusion function method [160,161] and renormalized as to eliminate the influence of bound channels allows a clear-cut separation of above-barrier results for weakly bound and tightly bound systems (see Section 6.4).…”

“…The new evidence supports a similarity between 7 Be and its mirror nucleus 7 Li, both presenting the usual threshold anomaly. The most recent measurement of this type appearing in the literature for a radioactive projectile again concerns the proton-rich 7 Be nucleus and its elastic scattering from 27 Al [37]. The data were collected at two RIB facilities, situated at the University of São Paulo and the University of Notre Dame.…”

“…Near-barrier 7 Be scattering was also measured for very light targets such as 12 C [29,30] and, more recently, 27 Al [31] in experiments performed at the Twinsol and RIBRAS (Brazil) [32] facilities. In these cases the analysis of the energy dependence of the optical potential was subject to large uncertainties.…”
