Abstract: En España, con la aparición de los primeros gimnasios higiénicos en la década de los años sesenta del siglo XIX, la gimnasia doméstica fue una alternativa para quienes no podían o no querían asistir al gimnasio. La industria gimnástica inventó métodos y aparatos para facilitar el ejercicio físico en casa.
