Abstract

Luciano Berriatúa made in 1975 the only film adaptation of El Buscón de Quevedo. It follows the literary text, maintaining the essentials to make it recognizable. The most relevant aspects are the construction of the dialogues, the narrative form it adopts, the correspondences, alterations, deletions and additions, including those of other Golden Age authors who are not in the hypotext. We highlight the use of cinematographic transitions because they provide a sequentiality that the novel does not have. In this study these aspects are analyzed and, in addition, the social question is considered, which in the film maintains the Quevedian idea of denying social ascent, but with a vindication of his rogue status and with a criticism of the noble class.
