Shallow soil is found in Gunungsewu karst area of Gunungkidul Indonesia, often referred as 'soilly rock'. Its the main problem are limited of growing medium and soil loss due to erosion. ‘Pot cultivation’ (PC) is term to describe technique of cultivating crop on small plot of soil between rock. Study aimed to determine 1) the practice of soil and water conservation (SWC) techniques of PC as a form of adaptation to soil condition, 2) the potency of PC for adaptation and mitigation of climate change in karst area. Research was conducted in Gunungsewu karst area, from January to August 2020. Study method was observation and interview. Results showed that practice of PC was carried out as form of adaptation to shallow soil in karst area. Soil is managed to fill the rocks, so sufficient as plant growth medium. Rock functions as a 'pot'. Rock 'pots' function like terraces in SWC. PC is effective way in increase of growing medium, preventing soil from erosion, preserving soil organic carbon, and as an action of adaptation and mitigation co-benefit. The results of this study are expected to be useful for development of karst area which have shallow soil.

The rise of renternir practices with various facilities makes people in need interested in using their services. The existence program of the Ojo Percoyo Renternir (OJIR) as an effort to eradicate renternir from the Malang city government in collaboration with BAZNAS Malang City and BPR Tugu Artha Sejahtera. OJIR provides interest-free loan services to Mustahik / UMKM, which is actually the cost is the distribution of zakat infaq and shadaqah funds that are calculated to be msutahik and paid in the form of subsidies. So that the OJIR Program looks to have applied the concept of sharia. This research was conducted to reveal a review of sharia agreements used in the OJIR program. In the study using qualitative methods that are descriptive, historical, expolarative and in-depth to the recipients of OJIR and BAZNAS Malang City as subjects studied. From the results of boxing it was revealed that the OJIR Program leads to Qard al-Hasan because it meets the criteria of his contract. And it does not lead to a Kafalah contract because it has a mismatch with its contract.

Purpose This study aims to explore how informal pawnbrokers and informal pawners interpret the existence of the informal pawnshop in the traditional market in Surakarta, Indonesia, with the main focus to determine the applicability of informal pawnshop development model. Design/methodology/approach The research used the qualitative method with the phenomenological approach using interview method to fully comprehend the informants’ views regarding the informal pawnshop existence in traditional markets in Surakarta, Indonesia. The applicability of informal pawnshop development model is required for Muslim market vendors. Charitable institutions shall participate in the development of the model by empowering (zakat, infaq, shadaqah and waqf) funds to help Muslims vendors in the traditional markets for additional capital in accordance with Islamic laws for a pawnshop. Findings The result of the research shows that the existence of informal pawning in the traditional markets is difficult to avoid as both informal pawnbrokers and informal pawners need one another. Most vendors in the traditional markets are Muslims. Islam teaches that loan interest is categorized as forbidden riba. Meanwhile, in the informal pawning practices, the informal pawnbrokers charge loan interest to the informal pawners. Originality/value The objective of this study is to investigate to what extent the Islamic pawn shops motivated the people through interest-free system. However, in past, tradition markets facilitate the people, but they charged a huge against it with interest (riba).
