Abstract:In this paper a simple method is described to measure the viscosity of a plasma at atmospheric pressure: If spheres move through a cylindricel plasma perpendicular to the axis they undergo a deflection fmm which the resistance coefficient can be calculated. Measuring too the dynamic pregsure and the temperature and knowing the resistance Ooeficient aa function of the REYNOLDS number the viscosity can be computed. As an example the measurement of the viscosity of a nitrogen plasma is reported.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
