“…These results indicate that there are no neighbouring carbon atoms, or carbon atom pairs, in ScC which is consistent with its crystal structure. Auer-Welsbach and Seifert (1962) found that if ScC were prepared from the metal and graphite, the solid hydrolysis product was y-ScOOH, but if ScC were prepared from Sc 2 0 3 and graphite, ScC did not hydrolyse in humid air at room temperature. The only notable difference in the impurities in the ScC samples is that the former contains some tantalum which comes from the preparation of the metal.…”
