“…The estimated uncertainties of the JO parameters shown in Table 2 were found to be larger than those estimated for Er 3+ :oxyfluoride glass [34] but smaller than those found for Er 3+ :LiNbO 3 crystal [35]. As can be seen from Table 2, it is observed that the trend of JO parameters (˝2 >˝4 >˝6) is found to be same for phosphate [1], germanate [2], PKBAT [16], fluorophosphate [27], borate [28], tellurite [29], ZBLAN [30], ZBLALi [31], indium-fluoride [31], CaBaMg aluminate [32] and fluoro-indate [33] glasses. The trend of˝2 >˝6 >˝4 is noted for PKMAT similar that of oxyfluoroborate [11] glasses and the trend of˝6 >˝2 >˝4 was observed for tellurite [12] glass.…”

“…The reduced matrix elements are taken from the values of Tm 3+ -doped phosphate and tellurite [29] glasses. All the bands of the absorption spectrum are dominated by electric-dipole transitions except the transition 3 H 6 → 3 H 5 , which contains large electricdipole and small magnetic-dipole contributions.…”

“…For the magnetic dipole contribution, we used S md (J, J ) values calculated in Ref. [18] since these values are not sensitive to the host. The Judd-Ofelt parameters obtained for Tm 3+ in KCaAP glass are Ω 2 = 5.63 × 10 −20 cm 2 , Ω 4 = 1.75 × 10 −20 cm 2 and Ω 6 = 1.11 × 10 −20 cm 2 .…”

“…The magnetic dipole contribution is calculated in the light of the Refs. [31,32], and the reduced matrix elements are taken from Refs. [32,33].…”
